1978 Unity poster

Unity Newspaper was published in English and Spanish from about 1978 to 1990. It was the newspaper published by the League of Revolutionary Struggle. A rare organization, national in scope with a few thousand members in several major US cities and composed of a majority being working class and people of color. Women played major leadership roles. It’s purpose was to replace the US’s white supremacy and profit based capitalism and imperialism with a system based on people’s needs and aspirations, a unique American Socialism. To fulfill the basic needs: food, housing, healthcare, education, culture, democratic rights and full equality.

1977 Malcolm X Program cover held by Eastwind Organization.

Eastwind was a L.A. based Japanese American revolutionary organization which became part of the League of Revolutionary Struggle. It’s members played leading roles in winning redress reparations and a apology, contractual pay and benefit increases for hundreds of Asian workers, low income housing for many evicted from LittleTokyo and many other reforms.
