1992 Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, APALA logo – original proposal
Art Takei, a Nisei progressive and labor activist, asked for a logo for APALA. The proposal was rejected because the “wave-fist looked too militant and independent.” The AFL-CIO preferred something closer to their design of white and darker hands shaking in unity.
